"This new series of paintings reflects a personal state of uncertainty and change. By combining abstraction, plein-air and realism, I am challenged to reconcile each within a single work. The result is a language in which paint is allowed to be paint while also forced to represent light. A thread of narrative, either overt or subconscious, intertwines with the pure act of painting. A sense of place and depth solidifies and dissolves simultaneously. Mundane objects, each one lovingly observed, are invested with mystery and heightened meaning. But while all these elements are plainly represented, their composite energy remains indefinable. The only certainty is that I am alive and I love to paint."
