I create meditative landscapes that offer a space for the viewer to explore cycles of growth and decay. In these paintings I have romanticized the grotesque, creating spaces that allow the viewer to enter my interpretation of these inevitable cycles, which can be both beautiful and harrowing. Decay is a natural process, and in my work I attempt to create harmony of this cycle. My work deals with a shifting of energy finding light from darkness, control from chaos, and balance from the unbalanced.

My paintings are very physical, combining layers of watercolor, wax, and aqua resin. My process fuses techniques of sculpture and printmaking on a two-dimensional surface. The result is a complex landscape, with many layers of carving, revealing and concealing what lies beneath.

I was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1981. Received my B.A. in Art and Mathematics from Skidmore College in 2003, and my M.F.A. in Painting from Hunter College in 2009. Currently I live in Manhattan and have a studio in Long Island City, Queens.
