Denise Bibro Fine Art, 529 W 20th St. NYC, is pleased to announce the sixth solo exhibition of Dusty Boynton: Recent Paintings 2013.

Boynton revisits her love of painting on canvas, moving away from her 2012 mixed media structured reliefs. Boynton’s current work still conveys the inner child, delving into deeper waters of a different, ferocious verisimilitude. For example, Episode employs elements of power, substance, hints of expectation, provocation, and vulnerability. Heaven Can Wait and Less Is More give us a sense of turbulence that has subsided, and suggests imminent resolution.

Boynton approaches her work with a sense of intimacy and transparency; conveying the raw demeanor and unpredictability of her subjects. As noted Critic Donald Kuspit states in a catalogue about Boynton’s work, “…Boynton is a masterful colorist and gesturalist, but above all her works are painterly drawings…sometimes gesture is there for its own pure sake, sometimes her grand brushstroke forms richly textured plains. Sometimes it functions as a mnemonic trace of pure feeling, sometimes as an atmospheric matrix for the image. It is uncannily urgent and ingeniously autonomous…whatever its pictorial function. Integrating fantasy and purity, Boynton produces memorable works Episode, 2013, oil on linen, 78” x 60” evocative of memories that run deep in all of us.”

Dusty Boynton’s book Out of Line, an extensive survey of earlier work, will be available, as well as a limited amount of the same publication with a unique work by the artist. Denise Bibro Fine Art will feature Boynton’s work at CONTEXT/Art Miami in December. Her work can be seen in October’s Modern Painters, and in the December issue of Architectural Digest.

Boynton has shown at Littlejohn Contemporary, New York, NY; Gallery Jupiter, Little Silver, NJ; and Steffany Martz Gallery, New York, NY. Selected group exhibition exhibitions include In the Garden at Barbara Krakow in Boston, MA; New Prints, 2002 at the International Print Center, New York, NY; Book, Box, Word, Volume II at the University of Florida and North Miami Contemporary Art Center. Her work has been reviewed in ArtNews, Art in America, The New York Times, Arts Magazine, and New Art Examiner. Boynton’s work was also featured in the film “Remember Me” with Robert Pattinson.
