Denise Bibro Fine Art, 529 West 20th Street, Chelsea, New York City, is pleased to announce Korean, New York based artist, Sui Park’s, second solo exhibition, Playing With Perception, April 14 – May 28, 2016. This exhibition is comprised of sculptural environments and singular pieces.

Mass-produced materials become the fodder of the hand-made. Park’s work is intricately hand-woven, mass-produced materials such as zip-ties and filament. Their inherently pure qualities of design, form, and color portray multi-faceted natural phenomena. Each elegantly-crafted form appears weight less. The use of repeated, similar forms create the structure and geometry of the installations which are bold and iconic. The effervescent qualities of the plastic, whether clear or color, provide magic to the pieces.

The character of Park’s work continuously evolves with the ever-changing quality of light and the structures’ individual placement. These characteristics become synonymous with those of nature. Perceptions of space, form, and atmosphere change when and where the work is presented and viewed. The multiplicity of several of these similar but unique objects provides structure and reflect the phenomena we experience from nature. Singular works in the exhibition also feature these same intricacies and nuances.

Perception is in the eye of the viewer, for sure, but each viewers’ perception will be challenged and changed in a given instance, each time he or she has the luxury and shared intimacy of experiencing Park’s work.

Sui Park is a New York based artist and an interior architect born in Seoul, Korea.
