While I have been making art with dollars for over 10 years, these drawings comprise a completely new body of work. In the global recession, we pare down, we minimize, and we make do with less. As the darkness descends we black out large areas to conserve energy. We search for meaning and sustenance in small details that we may have overlooked in times of plenty. But even as the power of the dollar contracts and the earth's resources are sucked up by our voracious addiction to things, there is beauty in an economy of means.
With this work I continue my aim to balance the importance of craft with concept, the visceral with the intellectual, the hand with the head.
